I am bored, moving in 4 months so I cant plumb in my frag tank to my main display until then. I have all of the equipment to set up a 10 nano in my living room. HOB filter, mini koralia power head, nano heater, super large 2 bulb current USA T5 fixture with a LED strip glue on it (36 inches it will look dumb but serve its purpose well). Going to use some live rock from my main display sump, I have lots of extra.

My question is....will the water changes work?

I plan to use the water I take out of my main system (5 gallons per week) and use it as the water for my W/C in my 10 gallon once a week. I don't and haven't had nitrates or phosphates of any kind in my main display in over 6 months. Nothing that's readable and over normal parameters. I have good parameters and they are nice and stable for the time being. Can I just use the water to do the changes in the 10 gallon?

Anyone see any problems with this? I plan to do mushrooms, some zoas and palys, the softer more forgiving stuff. Maybe a nano goby.

Sounds like a great idea. Looks as though you've thought it through well enough!

kk awesome ill throw some up in a few minutes, still painting the bottom white, this thing is going to look a bit goofy haha!

Little update, lights going on soon. Got a atomic mushroom some watermelon zoas, some closed up magicians that might die and one acro frag plug that regrew after I popped the frag off. If it lives it lives if it dies it dies.

To get her included in the hobby, hopefully, I am letting my girlfriend make all the coral decisions and aquascaping decisions. She is determined to make it look "better than mine". Lets see how it goes, something new for me to tinker with :)

Lol so the girlfriends gonna handle the interior design? Watch out for scented candles...llittle frilly pillows and such things. That's a big light fixture!! However, that being said, it's not the size of a fixture that matters but how you use it that's important.

yes sir! Its all I had and we wanted to just put something small together we didnt have to buy more equipment for, goofy looking for now but if I can craigslist a nice 2 bulb fixture for the 10g I will! She loves her watermelons and her atomic haha so hopefully I dont kill it all, I have been charged with maintenance :)

Couple of updates, added one more Acro that was borwning in the main tank, some green small polyp zoas, everything is doing great! Here is some pics, about 2.5 weeks in now. Already see growth in my one acro plug.

Great looking tank, keep the updates coming!

I set up a Bio Cube for my wife and a year later I'd rather look at the Bio Cube than my 120g...

She keeps telling me, " Mine grows faster than yours....." I want to freak out hahaha I take care of the thing! The new acro plugs have to be getting some serious PAR and they are doing amazing, no longer brown and growing quite well. The pics def show the difference.
