Will you have a maintenance free aquarium?

Will you still have an aquarium if all you need to do is look at the tank. If somebody else is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance.

The hobby is about the livestock but for me a lot of the excitement is also the tinkering with the equipment and system setup, solving problems and finding ways to simplify the maintenance.

5 gallon water change once a week. No dosing, no extraneous equipment, no worries.

I'm all about performing maintenance in my tank. I feel satisfied looking at it and able to say "Look what I did". I don't feel like that satisfaction would be there if someone else did it all for me. Plus there's no one to blame but myself if things go south and that's just better for everyone.

I like the planning process and setup. The maintenance even has it's moments, but the best system I ever ran was when I had my 90 going with very low fish load and mostly soft/lps corals. Had a calcium reactor and dosed trace elements every other week. Oversized skimmer and chaeto. Only did a water change every other month. Then I started acros........................................
