So the 60g I had on my back porch, filled with water, drained, drilled, painted, filled again, drained, installed overflow, dry fit plumbing, test plumbing, drained...
Then the cold snap came.
My trim, on the top and base, several spots cracked, the worse of the 2, base near the corner and a long crack running from the front, dead center on the center brace.
About 6 like this.
then this wide one on the base
the top center brace
So.. research a fix.. apparently some 2part JB for plastic and a little sanding will help. But.. I don't trust it. Add it to the pile of glass boxes I have.
So.. research a replacement. Hmm.. A bit out of current budget.. That'll take a little more than a month to save up and get.
Screw-it. I'll downsize for a first tank, I just want to get the ball rolling.
PetCo 1$/Gal sale? 29g? Ok, sold. I'll go cheap/nano first time. I might be moving within 3 years, so it will be easier to move it then. I'll donate some equipment to my brothers 75g fowlr and I'll work out a new game plan.
Filled, waited over night, drained and drilled. Second time drilling glass, and with confidence from the first go, had no issue, and came out cleaner then it did on the 60g.
So.. I guess lesson learned. Don't leave a tank outside when it is going to freeze. I never thought the plastic would do that overnight.
Time to change up some plans..
