Good afternoon . I have 55 gallon reef tank 2 years old . I have two clownfish a cardinal and a blood red fire shrimp kenya trees a pulsating z . I was clean my sand bed and I saw a red type of shrimp so fast I spot it next to a rock I did a research to seek what in the word that thing is I think is name is
Stomatopoda I got no idea how it got on my tank is red now I'm afraid it will harm my fishes or my shrimp please any tips how to get that creature out of my tank .is hard to catch it with all my live rocks it hides

when i had one in my tank i do a Trap using a 500ml pet bottle cut in the middle and insert neck inside the the bottom side then fixed it Whit Graphs
Inside some forze shrimps
Palace it were mantis is and Whit
But to Palace in another tank ma ntis is very cool

Yes that's what it looks like is about 3 inches long should I removed my fishes and put them in my quarantine tank til I get the mantis out?

Get a pic of it! To catch you need to put a bottle in you tank on the bottom with meaty bait in it. Tie some fishing line around the end so you can pull it up when the Mantis shrimp goes for it. Place it on the bottom of the tank facing the rocks where you last saw the shrimp and wait for it to go in after the bait. Turn off the lights and wait for it while remaining still if you can. You're going to want to remove your shrimp for this so it doesn't go after the bait as well.

Hey guys so I did a trap woth a big plastic bottle and the mantis came in I got it I don't know what to do with it I don't want it to die

^ Put it in the sump if you have one. A local reefing club member may want one. They are actually extremely cool.

Yes I do have a sump I think I just going to put it on my other 20g tank that I uses for quarantine just until I can find a new home for it

Give him some sand and rocks so he can hide.

Omg he's a cute little devil isn't he. Can you snag a photo with better lighting? If you can I can give you a species level ID.
