Wisco Tank/Build Updates

Sup all. I’ve been in a holding pattern as well. Finally got my Dino’s under control and my tank is doing ok (battling high po4) I took down my coral quarantine tank after an aiptasia outbreak so I haven’t added any new corals in a while.

Thankfully no pests made it to the DT. Wish there was someone local who would frag pest free corals.

Well I recently got another mp40 and I am starting to get into sticks. I got a couple from coralsavers that I'll have to get some pics of today but nothing crazy. I also got a couple small rfa's for a great price. I have a massive UV that I never used that I'm debating selling to help fund my habit. I bought it for dinos and then they went away luckily. Easy to get nutrients up when you feed 24 fish 3 times a day :)

Hey Zach - What UV did you get? If you end up deciding to sell it, let me know, I might be in the market, depending on price. I found a used Deep Blue 80 gallon low boy tank with a 45 gallon sump and am figuring out how to plumb it now!

I have a new pentair smart 40w, it is huge lol

It would probably add like 20% to your water volume lol.

I just submitted an order to Livequaria. I'm getting lawnmower blenny, some Nassarius snails, and an Elegance and Orange Birdsnest coral.

Lol. Nice on the order! I want to get a birdsnest as well

More zoas, rfa's, acros and a blasto coming this week. Also bid and won an Oregon blue tort which I'm super excited about. I set up my 40 breeder as a qt tank for a surprise fish that's coming from a buddy as well. As always, the madness continues

Who's got some tank shots? Any new builds? Hope all are well :)

Some shots of cool coral progression & the fish room madness lol

I'm debating doing qt procedures for friends. I have enough supplies and have had 3 qts running at once. Two 20 gallons and the 40 breeder. I've had 3 people ask already & I have more tanks...

What’s your usual routine. Copper? I’ve started down the hybrid tank transfer method with H2O2.

That's cool! So many ways. If it's a delicate fish I observe very carefully as I am home all day and have the experience. If need be I will treat accordingly. Now for the majority of fish, 30 days copper then 2 rounds of prazi and 2 weeks observe. My tangs lived in qt for months while I was building.

Corals I've not been careful with aside from dipping religiously and have not found any unwanted critters yet

I get paranoid about the unwanted pests on corals (aiptasia/vermetid snails etc.) but more importantly fish disease. From my understanding coral dips won’t put a dent on fish parasites.

If I could start the tank over and someone qted my fish I probably would but that's why I got a uv is to keep the the ich down in the tank. I know I have it but I'm just going to live with it. Keeping the fish fat and healthy keeps it at bay on the tangs. My corals iv been trying to really look at them before going into the tank and all looks good so far but one day I'm sure I will miss something. But learning everyday.

I hear ya on the pest part. The worst thing I've brought into the tank so far are vermitid and hydroids but neither seem to bother the corals. The system is still pretty new as well so I'm sure they will balance out. If not, I'm not afraid to get my hands wet :)

So I guess I shouldn't say no pests.. not sure if those came from my original tank with liverock either. But nothing horrible yet, fingers crossed.

Edit- I have seen pods, baby bristles and I think that's it while dipping. Nothing too crazy yet
