Debating on lighting choices for my acrylic 240. In the attached pic you can see there is a "top" to it with two 28" cut outs. I do have the lids for these as well.

Led? MH? I'm leaning more towards a lps tank, possibly sps down the road. Will or can MH burn or melt the top of the tank? How far off the top would they need to be to prevent this, but will they still be adequate at that height?

If money is no object and you want the best growth and color....
MH/T5 hybrid with led supplements like reefbrites.
You’d have the best of it all!

LED with T-5 supplements is great. Less heat than MH. Or a T-5, LED hybrid. As long as you have light from front to back it will be fine. Dont expect to have LED pucks down the center and be satisfied.

What about t-5 in the center and LED on each side so that it's 50% of both? I like my small T5.

I was debating led, but the price of them is my concern. That's a lot for lighting alone. I have MH already, but worry about the heat. I can add T5 to either.

I'll check out the sb reef lights. Is there a product that actually has all three? Or it a build your own type deal?
