So my clowns (which are new) don't wanna host but they can see my bubble tip anemone one goes to it often but just seems to swim away while the other just swims near the top. They don't go anywhere else other then this spot right above the Bible tip anemone(s) yes there is 2 and they pay no attention to the anemones at all except for everyone once and while

If you want a clown fish to host an anemone buy a clarki or a maroon. All the "normal" clowns and designer clowns are so captive breed they are like puppies and generally have no idea what an anemone is.

How about a normal ocellerous

Ocellaris are generally many generations removed from the wild and generally have lost some of their instincts. Most of them that come in to the store that I work at you can literally stick your hand in the tank and they just swim up to it while any other fish goes ducking for cover. There are methods to try and get a clown to host, but most are hit or miss.

Mine took a year to host.
Preferred to stay in a corner.

My black and whites hang out 6 feet away from my dozen or so anemones. My Spotcinctus hang out in the nem garden.

Probably gonna go to my fish store tomorrow what should I get (gonna get 2 so if they pair off won't be alone) but I turned my light to "night time" or deep sea so it's a dark blue and my black one seems a lot more interested in ig now swimming a lot closer

I do know my fish store just got a restock too cause when I went In the other day they had tons of boxes

I have a huge green tip hammer that my black and white clown absolutely adores. He rubs all over it swimming in and out of the branches.. (btw, the coral is the host to the fish [emoji6])

I don't plan on coral yet

How new? It may just take time. My clowns sleep in a fake anenome I threw in the new tank for them. They were hosted by pulsing xenia in the previous tank, but not putting that anywhere near the new setup... Took them about 3 weeks to decide the fake anenome would do. I have a toadstool in there now for them, just waiting for it to get large enough and then I will pull the fake anenome.

Not sure it would be much different. Set it and forget it. They are photosynthetic but do appreciate the occasional feeding.

Just an option. [emoji4]

I bought a captive bred percula last week. I put it and my bubble tip in a plastic spaghetti strainer for a week. There wasn't much room for them and pretty much forced them to touch. About two hours in the clown stayed in the anemone. The second day I lowered the strainer flush with the tank's water level and they stayed that way hosting the remainder of the week. I removed the strainer, placing the anemone at the center of my tank. They have been inseparable since.

doesn't always work, but you can tape a picture of an anemone (that looks similar to yours) hosting a clown to the side of the tank.
i did this with one of my older tanks and it worked within a few hours. doesn't hurt to try :)

You know I've been thinking about doing that but I haven't heard a story of it working but hearing that you got it to work when I get off work I'm gonna go try. If I can find my printer [emoji23] ya last time I looked for the printer it was gone it disappeared

You can also try playing a video of an anemone hosting a clown. My clowns completely ignored the RBTA for 6 or 7 months. So my daughters said they were going to show them how to do it. I thought they were nuts. Ran it basically for a weekend on a loop on an Ipad leaned against the glass. By the middle of the next week, the clowns had a new home. Now they never leave it!!! Not saying it will work for everyone, but it didn't cost me anything except a little electricity!!!

Hey everyone! I put my clown and anemone in a strainer and its been about 2 days the clownfish sits on the other side of the strainer and wants nothing to with the nem, how long should i keep them together before i just give up and let them be? the nem was in my tank for three month with the clowns before i put then in the strainer.
