I've been stocking people's tanks on some of these threads and I noticed some not all had wooden blocks on the both sides of their tanks... Does this help with lighting, prevent salt creep? Just wondering the benefits if any?

I've seen it on a few of the tanks I did not know if it was something to do with funneling the the light??? I had no clue..

I used wooden blocks to raise up my metal halide lights. The legs the unit came with did not raise the lights to the level that I wanted and I was not comfortable with hanging the unit. The blocks were just the best/cheapest thing for me at the time.
