No hood but probably half of us have given up on hoods to keep the tanks cooler. You didn't mention what your lighting is. For led's you can lift the rear of the light slightly so you don't see the light from the front.

I could build one to. Was hoping maybe there was a dusty one in someone's garage with a story to go along with.

LED. Its to keep my daughters cat from swimming with the fishes and look nice in the process.
