I have a 15x15x7 work tank that I just noticed has a slight leak in the front bottom left corner. The leak is very very slow but it's a leak non-the-less. Question is, if I remove all the water, rock and corals, put them in a separate holding tank, remove all the current sand, fix the leak/reseal the entire tank, and use NEW sand when putting everything back in, will I have an issue? Thanks guys, Joe

Thanks for the reply. That's what I figured just wanted to make sure and be on the safe side. I didn't want my SPS to start going south on me because of it.

I just did a tank upgrade (similar) went from a 60 gallon to a 104, used all my existing (coral covered rock) and used new sand. Only thing I lost was a baby clam and a few sticks lost a few branches worth of tissue. Nothing besides the clam was a 100% loss

Well after doing the tank swap, so I could get the old one broken down and resealed. I deceided to wait a few weeks before setting the old tank back up. In the mean time everything was doing great and was real healthy in the new holding tank. So it's been about 4 weeks and I just did the swap back to the old tank, all new and resealed. This time I went with a BB, no sand, and within 24hrs the tank was nuked!!! Dont know what happened but lost 9 of 12 pieces, mostly SPS, 1 ricordia, some Kenya and a favia. SO ****** about this. Everything was doing/looking amazing before the swap. Well I guess you live and you learn.

I've been testing the water and it seems the tank is going through a small cycle again. I have slightly elevated ammonia and nitrates. Nitrotes are fine and pH is stable. I did a few water changes on the tank and now both the ammonia and nitrates are low, almost zero. I'll give the tank a few weeks like this and see if the zoas and musrooms that are still in there servive. If so I'll make plans to add some new SPS and other corals, if not then I may just take the tank down for now. Maybe start fresh next summer with something new/better. What a bummer, very upsetting.
