I also think they recommend odd number of damsels like 1 or 3 but not a pair due to aggression issues.

These orange lyretail anthias are stunning and good for smaller size tank. I have one with one springerie damsel and even a 6 line with no aggression issues. Key is ample rocks and caves for everyone.

You want to focus on fish that are surface swimmers, fish that are mid tank swimmers and fish that are bottom dwellers so you make the most out of your available tank volume.
