I stopped in to WWC in Orlando about 6 months ago. I only saw the corals on their display floor, but I don't recall seeing any fish in their coral tanks. Either way, having a small tank at home with a cheap light is a good investment to keep new coral in for 30-60 days prior to putting in your display tank. This will allow you to watch them for signs of bugs, disease, or other nuisance algaes, etc... I have a long 20g that I use with a HOB filter, light, and small powerhead...I have caught several aptasia, etc... that would have gone directly into my tank otherwise!

I do have a spare HOB and tank somewhere! what light do you use? is there a decent cheapy one? i heard that you can have the tank slightly hotter to run out ich etc. i think I read people have there tanks at 82 to reduce qt to 45

I use the 3 below for my coral QTs and nem treatment tank. They are cheap, work well and can crank out some par if wanted. For info, I posted some links below.

You can also do a black box led, if you want. The light does not need to be expensive for a QT tank. At least IMO. I prefer to spend that money on DT lighting.

Also, if you wanted to, you can do any t5 grow light that fits over the tank. The ballasts in them do not drive the t5 bulbs as hard as an ATI, but they still produce decent light, par and is a simple setup to use with a timer for on/off.

link 1 and 3, you can get timers for them to set up a ramp up and down. It is the 4th link.

I believe there are threads for the first 2 on here. I know there is for the second link.

the first link is the 30w. I use this over my 20h nem qt/ht. I only run 10g of water in the tank, and this light will support all nems while treating or observing. I am also not trying to light the whole tank. I have egg crate divider where my HOB filter, powerhead and heater are. But I could light the whole tank with it with no issues.

You can get a cheap chinese black box light for around $100 that works well enough through quarantine. I believe my light may be a 16" Reef Breeders light. I'm not sure it is made any longer, though. But, it seems to work better than the lights in my DT!
