Worm? burrowed through aquarium silicone tank leak

Found tank leaking this morning through bottom silicon seam. Tank is 2 years old. Temporarily patched outside to stop water - then looked at the inside part of leak- saw something sticking out of silicone. Pulled with tweezers and some big worm thing came out of silicone what the heck?!?! Trigger made a b line for it and destroyed it before I pulled it out of tank. What could possibly burrow through a silicone seal and cause a leak??? I’ve never heard of anything like this.

I’ve never heard of that. How about this idea: the tank had a cut or fissure in the silicone already, and the worm took up residence there and the leak happened due to the already damaged silicone?
There are boring sea creatures that drill into wood and calcium rock....

I have seen a post before cant remember where
But they had the same thing with a bristle Worm
The pictures shown the black silicone inside the worm

I think it’s unlikely that worm would burrow into the silicone. It probably was a bubble or a crack in the silicone to begin with in the worm was just living in there. What size and brand of aquarium is it ?

Tbh that looks like it could burrow through titanium you could be right maybe it has burrowed through, get some good resin and your tank should be fine. Horrible looking worm that is. Good luck!

Its a 150 SC Aquarium. love love love this tank - has been great so far. Leak is patched and all critters are happy, however, I am now on a witch/worm hunt and incredibly paranoid that I've got a super-worm infestation hellbent on pulling a great escape out of the tank lol.
