Any ideas? This guy was in the bottom of the box of a recent order of live rock form KP Aquatics. It's about 2 - 2.5 inches long. Also as you can see it's dark in color with a white or light colored line right behind the head.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

interesting ,but sorry no answer

dorvilleidae worm. This worm is The Dorvilleidae Worm is a smaller relative of the bristle worm and reaches3 inches long. These worms spaced like jaws and the hook-like antennae and feed primarily on algae and are not considered as a threat to the aquarium.

KP rock is awesome! I'm jealous!!

I got a black bobbit from some KP rock years ago. Wreaked havoc before I caught him (did you know they will eat zoa's too?).
They have great rock and i would order it again, but definitely flush it with some club soda (inverts hate it, and many will exit the rocks, and it doesn't kill anything if you rinse it in salt water right after), and quarantine/inspect daily while it is curing!

bristle worm
Definitely not your "run of the mill" bristle worm.

Did anyone zoom in on the picture? That is a black bobbit worm

Seriously? I thought they were only found in the pacific. How dangerous? I'm assuming any worm with "bobbit" attached will not be good?

Tough worm. It's been sitting in a bucket of saltwater for 2 weeks now and still moving around. I just put him in an empty bare bottom 20 gallon quarantine I had set up to cure the rock. Don't think he liked going from around 64 degrees to 78 that quick but he looks to be settling in. It also hasn't eaten in at least that time so not sure how much life it has left in it.

It's certainly not going in my display or fuge. Not sure what I'll do with him but interesting nonetheless.

Thanks for the help with the ID.

Rock so far looks good. I spiked an ammonia reading of about 3 for a few days. Did a few water changes and added a bottle of bio-spira to knock the ammonia down. Added it to my display a few pieces at a time over the last week and everything has been great. Good coralline, feather dusters, sponge, a couple of very small pencil urchins, macroalgae and I'm sure a bunch of microscopic beneficial life. 30lbs in all and would purchase again at this point.
