It'll be entirely closed up and I'll add the R.O.E. and as soon as it becomes aware of it (anyone know how that happens) it opens up into feed mode.

It's detecting the free amino acids and fats from the eggs. Invariably, a small portion of the eggs (<1%) will have ruptured and leak out the valuable, smelly stuff that animals recognize as food.

I would love to see video of the feeding response when you have the time!

Interesting! Were I forced to guess i would've guessed it felt them. I hadn't considered they'd have olfactory senses. Thanks!
