I finally got some good pictures and videos of this worm. Would love to get an Id on it.

  • It lives in the sand.
  • Has always been in the same place
  • Stretches out of the sand onto nearby rocks and corals
  • It is at least 6" long
  • The end that comes out of the sand is forked (hard to describe, kinda looks like a dolphin's tail)

Ack! That is it! Most things do not bother me, but this has me slightly creeped out. Going to have to research this a little more :confused:

Is this of any concern to my fish? Could it be responsible for my firefish's disappearance?
 
He's just licking around on the rock. Think of him as a divided peanut worm. They do have a toxic defence mechanism, to avoid being eaten. That's more of a deterrent, however, not something that would kill a fish.
