Worm in sump

Caught this critter in my sump this morning. I've seen it - or it's sister - in the sump before, but it was always faster than me.

The worm is about 3 1/2 to 4" long and maybe 1/4" wide.

Photos are taken by my cell and cheapie $10 digital microscope. The video was also taken by the microscope.

Looks like a bristle worm, a big one but they help clean detritus

I agree that it does look similar to a bristle worm, but I haven't seen a picture of one that has the 'appendages' behind the head.

I have lots of small bristle worms in the tank and sump and leave them be for the reasons that you mention.

That is not a typical species of bristleworm that we all get at some point or another. I would not put that back into the tank.

That body shape and bristles remind me of bearded fireworks down here in the keys. Unusual hitchhiker.

It's probably a Eurythoe complanata.

Okay, I checked your site and it's a "watch them" I think that it will go back into the sump.
