worm or mushroom "guts"

Do mushrooms have guts? There are a bunch of white stringy things oozing out of this mushroom I just got. I dipped it in Coral RX and used a syringe to try to blow it off, but it wouldn't come off so I figured it might be its guts spilling out from the shipping and dipping stress. If it's worms, I'd like to get it out of my system ASAP, as I don't want it to spread to other corals.

After a few moments, the stringy things seems to have retract. I'm not sure if these worms are boring back into the mushroom, or if the coral pulled its intestines in after it has relaxed a bit.

Pretty shroom! That's "guts" - they spew them out sometimes when stressed. I thought worms the first time I saw it and picked at them with tweezers... permanently damaged the edge of the mushroom. Doh! They should retract back into the mouth.
