Worm with a head?

I found this guy in a sarcophyton that was going bad. Was he taking advantage of a dying coral or was he contributing?
Looks like a stubby bristleworm with a head. The head has pincers.

I have not seen anything like this worm over many years. The coral in question has been withdrawn for well over two months in contrast to other corals flourishing in the tank. I cannot think of any clear reason for the corals demise.
 
when in doubt take it out
 
Type of clam worm maybe?
 
The picture is not detailed enough to differentiate from bristle worms in my tank. I have long suspected they are taking bites from my sarcophyton.
