Don't know if this critter is bad but I found him just now when staring at my tank thinking of what I'm going to do next.

Do I need to get rid of him?

Common bristleworm. Good part of your clean up crew. They can get rather large, and at that point you'll want to try to remove it. But they generally will keep their numbers in check as long as the tank isn't overfed :)

Its a bristle worm of some type, if he is in the tank he has plenty of buddies and you will never get rid of all of them. That being said although they are considered a pest by many others consider them a valuable part of the clean up crew. You dont need to get rid of them but if you want to play with one wear gloves!

Yes. Definitely use gloves but better yet, use tongs if you don’t want it in there. Also since you know he is in there, be careful sticking your hands in the tank. You don’t want this one to tag you.
