Hey all! Newbie here and this one has me stumped. I have a margarita snail in my tank that hasn't been as active as usual. I recently bumped the temperature up to around 76-78 (I know this is too high for the snail, but everything else is thriving) I just noticed what looks like worms attached to the rear of its body and am wondering what they are. I found another reference to this only on one other forum but it was from 2004 and most of the info is gone. Anyone have this problem before? And what can I do to rid my poor snail of these things if I need to? Any info is appreciated!

That’s the front of the snail and if I’m looking at it right those are it’s wiskers.

Thanks for your reply! The head of the snail is actually on the right side of the picture. These little worms seem to be moving on their own, and the poor snail is looking rather shriveled. I went ahead and set up a qt and dosed with prazipro since I have it on hand. I took a video at 40x magnification and will upload it in a bit though

Welcome to R2R by the way.

Thank you! I've been lurking for a while trying to pick up tips and thought it was time to join! :) now to figure out how to share my video to the post. Hahaha

I’m trying to find the one I have as I still think it’s part of the snail but I’m far from a expert!

There is a slight possibility I just never noticed them, but man I spend a lot of time staring in this tank! Gonna feel really silly if it's just part of the snail!

Lol Been there done that! I was that guy that asked what was coming out of the bottom of my fish and got a ton of Poo emojis! My kids ice like to remind me of that often even know she had no clue then either but claims she told me it was poo!!!

I can’t find my M Snail to save my life right now. I found dozens of Tiger Trochus Snails even though I only remember buying 6 this year!

Lol ok I dont feel so bad now, I just don't need any more pests I'm this aquarium! Already have vermetids, aiptaisia, hair algae, and what looks like hydroids(?) I will try to get a pic of those soon so I can ask about them. First saltwater tank for me, and the guy who had it before didnt take care of it at all! Slowly but surely coming together though!

So the info from the other forum said it was a spionid polychaete. I do know I have spionids in the tank, I see the tubes daily. Just took my microscope to the edges and there is so much going on! Love this hobby!
