Worms?

Replacing my GFO today, see a bunch of little white worm like creatures in the container. Any idea what they are and if I should be freaked out?

These are Pineapple sponge which are found in shaded areas of tank and not long lived as they are derived from silicates likely from RO unit

Thanks @vetteguy53081 and thanks for all of your replies to my noob questions...truly appreciated! After reading a bit, it looks like they can be beneficial and I shouldn't be too worried. If you disagree, please let me know.
