Hello everybody, I just purchased a zoa and upon cleaning it prior to introducing it to my tank I found this critter. Does anyone know what this is? I have more photos and a short video if needed. I am keeping it in a separate container for now. It looks menacing and certainly not shy, makes me think of a Lovecraft creature.

Thanks in advance!

Here is the other photo with a different view of the "stinger" part

I’ve seen different looking ones. But still can’t verify what you gave us a spaghetti worm. Looks like it but not sure. You could put on sand and see how it “sets up”, this might tell you.

Great suggestion! I did add some sand to see how it reacts, so far no much movement. I will report back if I see the tentacles coming out.

Thanks everyone for the replies!

it is definitely a spaghetti worm. i posted a couple years back on the exact same thing. perfectly safe little guys, and will reproduce even if you only have one.

now all of my tanks have them cleaning up detritus.

Here is a photograph of the spaghetti worm nicely moved in.

Thanks everyone for the help!

Don’t want to start a whole new thread but wanted to verify this was indeed a spaghetti worm. I find them on my glass each morning and of course there are tentacles coming out of the sand.
