I feel it just exemplifies the greed that some of the fellow "hobbyists" on here harbor deep down inside. You know the ones. They try to fetch vendor prices but they aren't vendors. They say they are hobbyists, but in reality they are only trying to make money off fellow reefers.

The way I see it is if the seller includes the 3% in their final price then it's ok for me to pay it. Because once i hypothetically make a deal for $100 and you tell me to pay the $3 extra for fees it upsets me not because of the $3 but because of the principle that we agreed on $100 not the $103

As a seller, I don't ask the buyer to cover the fees from PayPal. However, depending on the state in which you live in Sales Tax is a must. So I make sure whatever I sell is a little bit cheaper so the final price reflects the tax and shipping. Last thing you need is the tax man knocking on your door asking for reciepts. As a seller, I want to make sure I am doing it the right way. I know there are many folks out there who operate without a liscnece and just sell frags but if you own a business, sell regularly and accept PayPal, you can't throw those fees on to the seller but should refelct in the total cost of the sale. My 2 cents.

It goes both ways. Sellers usually do add that fee in, buyers always want the bottom dollar. In this day and age, most who sell online use PayPal. Some sellers have an excellent reputation and buyers send the money as gift without hesitation. I do it all the time when buying, it's using your judgement. But then again, how much are you saving by not paying the fee if they ask?

Most of the time it's the bottom dollar price for people. The mentality of getting the best deal, that's it.

Sorry if this rant is ill placed but I've been recently combing the for sale threads for a few things I need for an upcoming build and I can't help but vent my frustration when every post I see has things like "PayPal gift or add 3%." Do these sellers realize that this one phrase turns away me and people like me from buying what they are selling? If they are willing to risk any sort of confrontation by offering me the chance to waive my paypal protection(by gifting) then I really don't feel comfortable dealing with the most often copious amounts of money our hobby deals in. Why not include the 3% in your asking price? Make me pay the 3% but don't have a price then tell me to pay the 3% because that's where I start to get weird. Just thought I'd see what everyone else had to say on the matter. Good day!

Well I'm one of the ones that always reply woth a pm stating 3% or gift. The way I see it is you already buying things cheaper here and on top of that you want the seller to pay for the 3 percent come one man get real. If that turns you away go buy it new and pay more.

You worded that to sound like you are doing the buyer a favor by selling them something when in reality it is the buyer doing you a favor by buying. I think 3%, included in the sellers bottom dollar, is a small price to pay to make sure your buyer is comfortable and to build a solid reputation as a seller who is not fighting over 3% with their "customers." Just include the 3% in your bottom dollar and the problem is solved. When dealing in hundreds to thousands of dollars I think anyone who is willing to gift money to a total stranger has bigger problems to worry about than losing 3%

Just a matter of different opinions is all and I appreciate your input. No offense meant so no offense taken. I believe the majority agrees with me which just may be the changing of the times as you said but I think it also speaks to the idea that if someone thinks the seller is there to facilitate a smooth exchange, even if it's a false facade on the sellers part, rather than worrying about a dollar here a dollar there that it makes the buying process much more comfortable for two total strangers.
