I have a large number of mushrooms. Time to make room for more stonies so I removed 3 large rhodactis mushrooms. Removing rock wasn't an option and they weren't gonna let go. Call me a bad guy but I basically just physically removed them and scrubbed the rock. It was messy. THE SMELL!!! Whoa. I had to get fresh air, change filter socks and dump skimmer. Still smells like an oyster in a dolphin butt in my fish room. Hah. Better way to remove these guys? I'm not talking frag - eliminate without removing rock.

I’ve never tried this with mushrooms but successful with anemones, touch the mushrooms with a little force and hopefully they’ll close or shrivel up a bit and put a piece of ice on the foot. It should let go and allow you to pick it off. Again, haven’t tried this but it may work and won’t wreck your tank (or fish room).

I've always been able to move anems. My shrooms have been there a couple of years. But the SMELL!!! So bad I started worrying about the rest of my tank and my own health. lol
