Hello,

I recently purchased a used tank a the guy gave me a ro/di system. He said the filters would need to replaced, I also looked at and the fitting seem to be the older type the screw in, but he didn't have the nuts for them, so i would also have to replace the fittings.

Is this worth it or should i just buy a new one?

Is there a DI Column? If not I would get a new unit. You could get a TD meter and test the effluent. It should be 0

Well, it looks like it is a very old Spectrapure RO system; it does not appear to have DI cartridges.

Assuming both cartridges and the RO membrane need replaced, in all honesty all you have the mounting bracket without enough spots to create a true RODI system without adding on a second unit.

Personally, I would look at a refurbished Spectrapure unit, probably for what all new cartridges and supplies would cost you. There are other brands, but Spectrapure is definitely the best IMHO!

thank you

I thought i would be better off buying a new

I used an old hydroponics ro unit I had forgotten about, added a dual di resin to it. Worked perfectly. I went ahead and bit the bullet and changed out all new guts, membrane, carbon, sediment and 2 di resins. Thing works like brand new now. I wish I did not have to tote around a ro unit and di unit, I wish they were all one unit but hey it works. I would also like to but the BRS 4 stage RODI unit with tds meter. Its not needed but It would be nice.

Remember its all about your inside filters, not the looks of the containers. Plus that unit has a slight advantage over clear units. Algae will/should not grow on it if left in a high lighted area or outside by mistake.
