I recently bought a quarantined and healthy powder blue tang which is now showing early signs of ich in my display tank (still eating well). My other inhabitants have not shown signs (dwarf angel, cardinal, clowns, royal gramma, gobies).

Considering my tank has ich in it, is there a point in quarantining and treating the tang, given that it will be re-introduced to ich when it goes back into my DT?

You would need to treat all of the fish in your DT.
They would need to be placed in QT and treated with copper or CP.
Then you would have to allow your DT to be fallow for 76 days to eradicate the ich in the tank.

PBT is not likely to survive ich management long-term.

how large of a QT would I need? I have a 20 gallon currently, but for ~7 fish including tang that seems quite small for 6 weeks?

I would use a 40b. Also 6 weeks is safe for things like Brook, velvet, flukes etc. You will want to go fallow for 76 days since you are dealing with ich.

A 55g is another good choice for a QT system since they give more swimming length without much more volume. I keep one in my attic in case of emergency.

If you are convinced it is ICH an alternative treatment method would be TTM. You could use Plastic containers for this while you establish a 40B or 55G with HOB filter(s) and bacteria-in-a-bottle.
