Would 2 Radions Be Enough Light For A 6'x3' Frag Table?

I am going to be setting up a frag table and using LEDs, trying to decide on what size i want to do to be most efficient and cost saving. I would like to do a 72 x 36 x 10. I was thinking of using Radions for it and was wondering if 2 would be enough for a 6x3 frag table thats only 10" deep? Im hoping i dont have to do 3 lights, or downsize to 48" and use 2. What you think??

My understanding is radions are only good for about 24" x 24" so I think you would need 3 u it's but I could be wrong

Cost effective with radions? I would go diy, 36" lengthwise is pushing it, and both ways is really not going to work well.

well thats what i have read also but this would be a 36x36 space but only 10" deep and i could put soft stuff on the outer edges and sps in the middle. just gathering info to decide what set up to run.

You could diy for less than half of 1500, that's a lot of cash for a frag tank imo

Yeah definitely.... and even to make it work with radions they would have to be hung like 10' above the tank to get enough spread to do it with just 2... and I am still guessing some superlow/ no light areas they just arent designed for that!

P.S. w/o raising them super high the shallow depth is actually kind of limiting on their spread

Then do it right, get the amount you would actually need (3-6... because of the 36" width you may want to double them up every 2' length wise to get good coverage). Also, if you go with just 3 you may need to throw some t5's or other lights on for supplementation to "make it look right"

Solderless kits help tremendously, they sell 5 and 7 wires at home depot, in a store, you can run the wires to the cieling, and put the ugly stuff there (assuming you have panel cieling.

yeah still in the planning stage for lighting and size of the table. thought about cutting it back from 36" to maybe 30" to help out some but figured it would need 3 of them but wanted some actual feedback not just regurgitating what someone read on the internet cause ive already done that lol. ive got a 6ft 3x250w 20k halide i COULD use but id rather not mess with that.

You need access to the components, I would help you out if I was local. You could always make a "window" panel in the sheet rock, is there an outlet in the cieling? is the tank against a wall? if it is 4 side access, cieling plugs are a must

plan is that is goes almost in the middle of the room, light power will go thru the ceiling (cut in a plug or stick one in the attic) and pump/ect from the floor. everything else will be against walls luckily lol. be nice if i could make it work against the wall too but then the whole inside of the room would be pretty empty cause ill have the walls jam packed. at absolute worst if i dont want to mess with running into the ceiling and floor i could run the cables all together and down in ONE corner of the table tank into a small hole in the stand to plug in. weighing out options, gotta order my tank ASAP.

GHL Mitras cover approximately 36" x 24" per unit. That's an option and they are full spectrum units.

This is my 120, one of my radions is into service so I got a cree Reefbuilders light. Here is the spread.

Looks like you made that Cree fixture match the Radion. Not counting the controller bells and whistles how do you compare the light output between the two?

I would not spend that much on lighting for a frag tank, there are cheaper fixtures, save the radions for a display
