Would 3 dwarf angels do OK in QT at same time?

I am wanting to get a flame angel, coral beauty angel and a lemonpeel angel all at the same time, preferably. I would QT them for 6 weeks before they move into my 450g DT.

Think they will be ok (i.e. no fighting) in a 20g long tank for that 6 week period? Do they normally only fight with their own species anyway?

Dwarf Angels will try to kill any congeners living in what they perceive as their territory. They are more tolerant of conspecifics, as they can transition to the right gender to form pairs.

3 species of dwarfs in a 20g tank for any period of time is asking for trouble. I would recommend dividing the tank with egg-crate or some other screen, to create separate compartments so the angels cannot fight in the confined space. They may be fine with the large footprint of a few hundred gallons, but a small tank like a 20 gal is going to see fighting almost immediately.

One of the problems in quarantine is that most of us run it as a defacto hospital tank. So it’s typically barren apart from some pvc pipes for shelter. Makes it easy if you need to medicate, but hard for a fish that’s getting bullied.

Your outcome will vary according to species, sex, maturity, individual characteristics, food type / access, etc... personally I think it’s risky especially in a 20g.

But with the eggcrate separation I should be ok? i.e. they won't stress each other in between partitions? I need to consider if separating it into thirds will be too little space; if so, I will just get 2 angels.

Eh, this isn't good conservative advice, but more general practice: it will stress them but, those are hardy common angels, I would think they can handle it. Think about the little cubes that they keep them in in stores or wholesalers, so long as it stays to 6 weeks, probably fine. Add some fake plants and plenty of PVC to hide, keep an eye on it. Keep oxygen levels high. Have a backup plan like a spare 10 gal or friends place to bail out too if things go poorly.

All of this is also largely dependent on the size of angel, you can get any of those as baby captive bred specimens or tiny wild caught and they could spend months growing out in a split up 20gal.
