Would a dead clam open and close?

Hello. I just got a squamosa clam from Algae Barn and it isn't reacting to light, but if it is move, it will slowly close, then open again. Here is the clam in the bucket where it's drip acclimating.

Interesting... I mean if it is open and closing without flow I would say it's alive still. Keep in mind you should count the clam to a rock it needs somewhere to anchor. Also have you check for Pyram snails? Just asking because of the little white spots. Keep the thread updated

That’s a goner unfortunately.
Contact algae barn and they should send you another one.
 
We tried to get an out of water shot, and failed so we put the clam in the water. The clam burped. Does that mean it's alive?
