Hey guys,
I had (hopefully still have) an anemone shrimp that uses my heliofungia as a host...it rarely ventures off of it. Today it was not there so I began looking around for him. I found my emerald crab eating him or his molt. I tried to grab it to see if it was the actual shrimp or his molt but the crab took it into his den. So my question is would an emerald crab eat a molt or is this just wishful thinking on my part.

P.S. My anemone shrimp is significantly bigger than my emerald crab and the shrimp seemed to be quite healthy.

Emeralds will occasionally even catch and eat fish...so I'm afraid I can't reassure you. :/

Given the opportunists that they are, though, maybe they would ear a molt...?

They would most definitely eat a molt.

My crab relinquished it...it was indeed the remnants of the body. :( my best guess is that my shrimp molted and the crab got him while he was week. He was such a nice little shrimp :/
