I have a few things in my tank I'd like to get properly identified if anyone can help me out. Some of these I've had for awhile and either haven't taken the time to have properly ID'd or just assumed they are what I thought they are and some of them are newer... I'm still pretty new to the home reef, the tank is almost a year old. Any info, advice, and/or comments would be great!
Purple sponge, maybe? I've seen corals that grow similar to this though. I'm still pretty sure it is a sponge. It was sold as a sponge. Is there a true name for this species?
Zoas, any idea what they are specifically? Some are a neonish green in the middle and others are mustard yellow, when I took the pictures at least, not sure if they are always mixed colors or not. Probably the same species?
More zoas, most are bright light green in the middle, a few yellow and some pinkish red. Then there are those long tentacle things. You can't tell in the picture but they are a faded green in the center area. At first I thought these were Aptasia (might be) but they I am starting to believe they could possibly be a different species of zoa that mixed in. I stuck this frag rock and the other one in/on the sand until I pick a spot for them, they are doing well on the bottom though for now.
These are the zoa's I'm talking about above. I was told they were dragon eye zoas but I'm not sure, can anyone confirm? They feed like dragon flys and are much brighter green than the picture shows. I've had these a long time, it took awhile but they are spreading rapidly now.
Cabbage leather? Had this awhile, it used to expand to a good bit larger size, but I increased overall flow in the tank and it seems to stay pretty tight which I think is a good thing, it's a brighter color pink and looks thicker/stronger in the heavier flow.
In the center, I was told these were "Pizza Polyps" and I've seen these in a LFS with this name (probably where the person I got them from got them). However, I can't find any information on the web about a coral by that name. There are 3 of them there they have short tentacles and catch food and feed.
Finger leather? It's purply/green. This is fairly new and I haven't seen it show any polyps (as of yet) although it is has what looks like purple dots all over it (potential polyp locations?). It didn't have a base so I stuck it into a clevis, urchins knocked it downward I guess, but now it looks like it attached to the rock around it. I assume if it wants to it will change direction.
Finger/hand leather? I think it might be possible it is the same as the tree looking leather above, although it has a very differnt shape. I don't know. This also fairly new as well and about half of the days it sprouts bright green (tipped) polyps from its entire surface. It also sometimes has a longer/taller stalk. I just stuck it in the sand for the time being to see how it would do. I may move it soon though, I'm not sure but I feel like the polyps should be out on a daily basis and it just doesn't like where it is for one reason or another.
Pretty certain this is a small colt coral. I have a much larger colt that came from the same supplier tank (this was a freebie with the bigger one)
