I'm currently running a 32 Gallon Biocube (been up for a year and 2 months now) 2 Clowns, a paired yellow watchman hobie and tiger pistol shrimp, a blood shrimp and peppermint shrimp along with some astrea snails, 1 turbo and some hermit crabs.

Tank parameters:

PH - 7.9
Ammonia - .0.0
Nitrate - 17ppm
Nitrites - .001

I've always wanted a Mandarin Goby and from what I've read, the personality would fit right into my tank. The issue is, I don't happen to see alot of copepods? I obviously don't want to get one if there won't be enough food?

Can you all share some input, thoughts? Other options to help feed as well?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

I've looked it up and found more often than not they can get along well!! Especially if there is alot of rock in the tank. Here's my tank:

So, I found a captive bred Mandarin!!

Very small (I don't think he's a full 1" yet)

I took the plunge, will be supplementing copepods as well! (First dose was last night. I'll also be breeding some as well)

I'll attach some pics. Haven't named him yet!

Today is his first day. I acclimated him yesterday. Put him in the tank and left the lights out. Just out them back on. Venom and Kratos (My clowns) don't seem interested in him at all...

Mr. Gobie Lee (YWG) also seems uninterested. I'm a little nervous about the first feed today. I figure I'll get all the big guy food out of the way, then spot feed the mandarin his row.

Fingers crossed it all goes well!

I got him from an LFS here. So far, he's doing great. Eating well (mostly pods) I've been supplementing the population to make sure there's enough, but he's grown about .5" so far!

He's doing well and I've name him Wolverine!

great to hear - seems like you are a good steward of your system - and a comic fan to boot

i would have skipped the mandarin not sustainable in a 32 gallon unless ur spending £200+ on pods a month

I did quite a bit of research before I bought him. Basically I found you'd need a minimum 30 gallon tank, with lots of live rock and hiding spaces. Which is what I have.

As for the food supply, the one I bought is captive bred (The only reason I bought him) so the backup here is frozen food. I feel pretty good about the decision!!
