Cause algae where? I'm not sure what you are asking - if you are asking if that light over your sump will cause algae in and around your sump the simple answer is YES. It's a grow light, it'll grow any and all plant matter where ever it shines.

Red lighting can and may promote algae. It is ideal for mangroves and Chaeto. In a tank setting, can cause algae growth, but ideal for refugium where you have it

Im sorry im new to saltwater. So i should be good you are saying?

He is saying yes for a refugium ;)
Im kinda confused? So i should have algae in the refugim? Im new to saltwater... ny friend said i only need the light inside the refugim and not light else whdre otherwise huge algae outbreak?

Its in the process of setting up. Theres no water in therem im new haha.
Buddy you are gonna have algae everywhere. Lol. Don’t fire that light up right away. Let the tank cycle and settle a bit before you crank it up, and when you do ramp it up. When I ran a fuge I kept a few snails and mild CUC down there to curb some of the algae. What you are mentioning is light spill. It happens. You could make blinders out of cardboard or whatever to cut it down.

A refugium is specifically used to grow algae. The red light you have is specifically designed to grow algae. Does that help at all?

if you are only using that setup as a sump/filter, you dont need any light. the only purpose that you would have a light would be for a refugium. a refugium has the main purpose/intent of growing macro alage like chaeto. if you have no intent on doing that, which for a new tank you wont need yet, i would just keep the light out of it.

People seem that didnt understand what i was going for. I bought this AI prime fuge specifically for a refugim. I guess i shouldve worded my question better as im not from the US and english isnt my first language so i apologize. What i mean was i have this AI prime fuge on an 18 inch arm. The light spilli g everywhere, and not only my refugim my concern was not inside the refugim, but outside it.
