I just for my first hammer coral. And thats the space between them and the leather. Is that an issue? Or it will take years before it will be an issue?

The leather will grow faster. I haven't observed any issues with the leather next to the Duncan. I suspect it will be fine for a while. If you can separate them, that would be fine too.
