I was considering getting this tank would it be a good deal? New to this it should I start smaller.

If it comes with lights and rock and coral def a good deal. Even if it doesn't, I'd say it isnt a bad deal.

I facetime seller as they still have it set up. Seems like everything is working they are moving and unable to take with them I'm just worried about moving it.

As has been previously mentioned, complete list of what you are getting for $450 is a good place to start.

Based on the pictures, the sump appears to be an older style wet/dry sump. Not the end of the world, but you will find yourself wanting to upgrade.

Are you buying the tank as we see it in the pictures with fish, rock, sand and all? If so, it is a bit more complicated than tearing it down, transporting it and putting it together. There is much to consider. For example, I would toss the live sand and water and start with new sand and freshly mixed water.

Ok cool I was considering that either way. The rocks are included but he said no fish included

You can reuse the sand if you want to, just has to be thoroughly rinsed (can use hose water no problem) until the water comes out clean. Fine to reuse at that point if you don't want to buy fresh stuff.

That stand looks a little rough. I'd ask for some more pictures of the inside. The hinges are rusted. If you see water damage or salt creep inside you will need to replace it.

There is another thread on here about transporting an empty tank. The reefer lost his $1,600 tank because it cracked. It was not put on a wood pallet for one thing. I encourage you to reach out to the reef squad and locate that thread.

New to me Red Sea 450 just cracked

Getting back into the hobby, something my daughter and I could share. Bought a Red Sea 450 from someone local to me, got it home, was undoing the straps and I heard it pop. Pretty devastated to say the least. What are my options, if any?

hi where to start,lots of buckets w lids,and your camera! first take lots of pics to reassemble equip,
1 shut down everything but lights if needed,
2 get as many buckets of clean undisturbed water into buckets as poss"water to top of rocks
3set aside 3 3/4 full bkts for fish will most likely be last out
4corals in bags floating in bkts "seperately
rock w corals attached poss 1 per fish bucket"nems only w clowns"
rock in buckets ,saving the bottom rocks til very last,trying not to disturb sandbed
now water is getting dirty use in rock buckets,need as much water as poss from est tank
last bit of rock in sep bucket use dirty water but throw this water away when done
fish in orig clean water bkts
have water mixed at home to replace loss
do not reuse sand throw away!!!!!
take down move ,set back up asap 2 people approx 6 hrs poss lil more
worry about cleaning tank and equip..later
watch fish need air ,atleast a stone to pop back and forth bkt to bkt

hi sorry ignore what is not required..not typing again..lol use a10$ sheet of 1/2"pink 4'x8' foam insulation board,cut in half, to put tank on to move,either double up or use other half to secure things ,protect stand from glass etc
