Hey reefers,

I currently have 2 WAV pumps, and 1 3k gyre in a 90g 4ft tank. I would like to add 2 more WAV in there amd would like to get y'all's thoughts if this would be too much flow.

I jave it currently set up with 1 wav at each end of the tank and the gyre on 1 end horizontally right on top of the wav pump with random programming. Wavs are set with random programing as well and not set to inverse.

I plan on moving my softies into my daughters 36 gallon tank, and convert the 90 in a sps/hard coral dominate tank.

1 have a 1 1/2-2 in sand bed, and the dlsand gets tossed around but not like a tsunami. If i do add 2 more wavs, id put them on the back wall amd adjust.

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance

It's very hard to offer serious advice without knowing what the maximum flow rate is from each WAV, the gyre and the sump return pump. Have you ever done a TURNOVER calculation for your tank?

I sure wouldn't have the one WAV directly under the gyre as that seems pretty redundant to me. Maybe you could explain why you have it that way?

I'm a big proponent of good flow and based strictly on what I can see in your pic, I'd say for an sps dominate tank, a bit more flow might be a worthwhile idea. But knowing the flow rates of ALL the existing pumps would be useful.

Thanks @Ron Reefman. I've never done a turnover calculation on my tank. I just go by what fusion is telling me based on my tank and the programing set on the wav. I run a cor-20 for a return pump and by using the eyeball method, I can see that by the amount of water flowing through the sump its pushing a significant amount of water to the DT.

I had my gyre set vertically on the back side of the tank before moving it to where it is now. When it was in the back wall, it would just make all the sand kick over to the opposite site of the tank. The other reason I moved it above the wav was so i could provide more flow to the sps that are on the left side of the tank.

By Fusions calculations, its saying im between 60-80 turnover with just the 2 Wavs. So to be on the conservative side ill say im at 50x turnover with the Wavs. The gyre is running a randon programming and max power is at 70% when in pulse mode.

I really hate to highjack your thread but something caught my eye that has always bothered me on my setup. You percentages of power settings go up to like 80%. Nine are set like max 4%. But flo is similar. What do I have set up wrong. It does look like I have a lot of flow in tank again sorry forchighjwck but maybe you can help. It is a new used tank so not sure if set up correctly

Not sure what size of tank you have. But if you click on the gear on the Flo graph, make sure you set how many gallons your tank is.

Thanks Jose. Sorry again. I will check and hope you resolve your question. Sorry can’t help

I've got a 5' x 12" x 24w" 75g growout tank that im running 2x 3k gyres (facing each other on opposite end, 2x WAV and 2x Mp10.. I would not say you have too much flow currently.

Your tank is pretty open at the moment I would just turn what you have up a bit if you want (I think the flow in the video is enough for now) and add more powerheads later when colonies get bigger.

Are you running bare bottom?
Yes I am. Also on the WAV im running Mavericks for a good portion of the day at 90%. I just added these about 2 weeks ago. I had to move them around a bit to where they weren't causing polyps on a few of my acros to retract. Now everything is looking as happy as ever. It's likely that i will remove the Mp10's here in the near future as the WAV's have replaced them essentially.
