I have a 100g stock tank that a friend was using as his sump. it has a hair line crack where it was sitting on top of 2 300g troughs, and so its been sitting in my side yard doing nothing. so I was thinking it's just sitting there, why not flip it over, put down a sheet of plywood on the bottom, which is now the top, and sit my 50g on top of it.... good idea, or stupid? I figure I can cut the plywood into a oval shape, and that would help distribute the weight of the 50g onto the bottom of the 100g.
The 50g, is my new prop tank. it will go into my basement, and be lit by 2 250w HQI's.

i dont know the thickness of that but look very rugged. compared to the prebuilt stand most places sell i would guess that will be quite a bit stronger. most go way over board with the stand. (myself included)

I use the rubbermaid tubs and over time they start to warp a little bit. It would probably work but you can get cinder blocks Home Depot to put the tank on. The blocks are only 1.00 a piece. Works great if you are setting up the tank in a basement or something where the appearance does not matter much and of course you dont have to worry about the cinder blocks not holding the tank.
