I'm going on vacation for 10 days starting this Sunday. I went into my LFS to pick up some new filter socks and the store FINALLY had tangs. It's been months since they had any yellows or yellow eye kole tangs.
I was so tempted to get at least a yellow tang. I lost all my fish but one to Marine Velvet back in early March. I took the remaining one out and treated it. She went back into the main display with a half chocolate mimic tang a few days ago. They were both in a new QT that I bought after my loss. Yes, I learned my lesson. Hence my current issue.
My QT is only 10 gallons. Would anyone buy a small yellow and small kole eye and put them in a quarantine tank at the same time? Would you do one fish at a time knowing how hard it is now to get small yellow and kole tangs? And would you do it knowing youre about to leave town, but have someone watching over your tanks. I have a well established biocube that will be no issue to maintain, other than feeding the fish and a 120 gallon that shouldn't be an issue, other than feeding the fish.
I had every intention of waiting till I returned to buy more fish, but with the scarcity of those fish lately, would any of you risk it or wait it out? I haven't bought them yet, wanted some opinions.
The QT is cycled and has been running for almost 3 months. If I treat with copper before I go away is a whole other topic. I guess I will before I leave, but I'm more curious if anyone else would risk getting the fish? and one or both? If they were easy to get, I would wait for sure. But its been 6 months since I've seen them locally and he said they have no idea when more will arrive. They wont be there in 2 weeks when I get home.
thanks
