iv got a gold rim tang that I noticed had got a cloudy eye the last 3 days of the copper power treatment" so when moved after 14 days into another tank with no copper I added the 1st dose of general cure for flukes" its the 2nd day in general cure know and iv noticed there looks like there is a hole coming in the cloudy eye" would this be a fluke? the fish goes on side and scrapes from time to time" it looks like there is the odd small like spot around head area to behind head

would you give a freshwater dip for 5 minutes know even though in 1st dose of general cure ? don't wont him to lose eye

fish feeds good still

Yes conduct the dip. This is always best if you suspect flukes because it identifies that you're fish actually has them. Do it in a dark bucket for approx 5-8 minutes depending on how well the fish does.

Key Points to Conducting a Successful Fresh Water Dip:

Fresh water dips can be frightening for all parties involved the first time around. I steered away from them for many years because I was too scared to perform one. It's quite simple and is NOT as stressful as one would think, but it must be conducted properly.
  • Use a dark 1 gallon bucket.
  • Use RODI water that matches the same PH and temperature of the shipper water perimeters.
*Note: Retrieve water sample from bag the fish was shipped in and test the PH and temperature. Keep PH buffer on hand if you need to raise the PH of the RODI to match the water sample.
  • Add air-stone into the bucket to produce more oxygen and agitate the water surface.
  • Use Prime or Amquel to ensure ammonia doesn't rise in the bucket during fresh water dip (FWD)
  • The duration of the dip should last anywhere between 5-10 minutes.
*Note: This timeframe is dependent on the health and behavior of the fish during the dip.

Thanks guys im just heating some RO with small heater and got pump and buffer to get ph to same as QT tank

do you think that's wy his eye is cloudy and hole in middle ? flukes! there was no sharp objects in QT with copper in" I treated him in the 14 days

It definitely could be. Flukes attack the eye. Post photos if you can it always helps.

Yes I believe it is flukes. Copper doesnt kill flukes. Do a FW dip then treat with Prazipro. Should be gone in a few days.

There are several types of common flukes. They each seem to favor a particular area of fish. Flukes in the eyes of fish and often those within the gills are a bit tougher to eradicate. Possibly due to the surrounding tissue which seems to protect the flukes from medication. So don't be surprised if it takes a bit longer for the medication to do its work. If it seems that the meds are not helping, you may want to consider going hypo.

For cloudy eye, I recommend Epsom salt bath...…. similar to FW dip but with Epsom over 3 days

No, I believe Prazipro is more concentrated

iv done the freshwater dip for 5minutes and fish not really take it to bad" he"s feeding 2 hours later
did see number of white things like salt grains but more long than round" say 1-2mm going around in water in aerated water" and saw some like ruff white patches around head and top of body of fish when put into freshwater dip

Nice job. How long was he in the dip? How does his eye look after?
was in for 5minutes and today looks ok and not saw him scrape on side or flick like was! also don't seem to be dashing about so much around tank! don't know if this is good sign or not!

but his eye is still cloudy but not quite so much" still looks like there is a hole in lens"
