I was just trying to figure out how to do this and/or link to an outside source. This would make it easier. Although, I would like upload videos from my computer also, since my phone videos are automatically synced with my computer. What phone are you using and what megapixel is the camera? The funny thing about how servers process photos is that it's not based on the actual file size (megabytes) but rather on the megapixels, which is simply the L x W = Size. So if the server max upload setting is 20M that doesn't mean a 20 megabyte file, that means L x W < 20,000,000 pixels. So I can take a panoramic picture that has a file size of something like 5.6 MB but the MP size is 25,000,000 and it won't upload. What I would like to see is the auto resizing of pictures. When I use my phone it does it for me, when I use the PC I have to email them to myself to get a smaller file size then upload.
The phone was a 21 megapixel Droid turbo. But I think we always take pictures in high resolution. Why wouldn't you? When something is happening, you don't have the time to start screwing with settings. What phone are you using and what megapixel is the camera? My guess is that you have a phone that takes really high res pics

Actually the upload tools themselves often use something called the "http request header" and a variable therein called the "Content-length" to restrict the file size of the upload by looking at the megabytes. Getting data such as pixel density is often a matter of metadata about the file being passed to the server or by the image/video processing tool on the server. So upload restriction based on file size is pretty common. What phone are you using and what megapixel is the camera? I'm pretty sure that it's set very close to that here based on a previous post...you're likely just over the line! New phones, better cameras...need more power! The phone was a 21 megapixel Droid turbo. But I think we always take pictures in high resolution. Why wouldn't you? I have an S8+ now, supposedly 12mp camera but the pictures are twice as good.I admin a few XF boards on my server, so I was just relaying my experiences. The server setting of "20M" on upload (in php config) will not allow a 20+ megabyte file to actually be uploaded. It will error out when the pixel LxW > 20 million pixels, regardless of the file size. There is a similar setting in the Admin Control Panel of the software that specifically calls out that it's by the kilobyte, but the php limit is usually hit first (i.e. if I have it set to 10,000kb in ACP and 20M in php and upload a 21MP file that is 6.7megs, it will error out)
There is also a factor that comes into play when resizing the image. If I upload a 5 megabyte photo, that actually shows up as only about 200k on the attachment side and the processing (for me at least) is pretty fast. When it shows up as successfully uploaded, it's done processing and ready to post.

Fantastic phone and the "Pro" setting in the camera really gives you some control.I have an S8+ now, supposedly 12mp camera but the pictures are twice as good.
See for yourself.Fantastic phone and the "Pro" setting in the camera really gives you some control.
