None of those things will eat or help a full fledged Dino infestation. Besides the siphon.

Still I’d rather Dino than a leak lol

I've dealt with both over the decades. Dealing with nuisance algae is much easier.

How the hell do you find a leak that isnt obvious? I have had this used tank about 5 years and I always had a hard time balancing salinity and keeping my skimmer working as well. I dint realize until lately it was because of a leak.

The only visible drip marks are dry to the touch and I think it were my hubby repaired before.

Whats happening is where the bottom of tank rests on the rim of the stand is always wet all the way aroung the tank but worse in the back.

Cant seem to keep it dry enough to seal that. I was going to have hubby dry it out maybe me holding a blowdryer to it while hubby silicones where the tank bottom and rim meet.

That might even be futile because I dont get how it can leak from there.

Do you know any techniques to find the leak? All the plumbing is dry too!


Probably should just trade up but I worried because I have so many new corals coming in and have no idea what would happen adding uncycled rock, or even If I cycled some separately and added to a mature tank!

Someone Please tell me how to locate a leak that only has the rim of my tank wet! Where the bottom of the tank meets the top of the stand! Theres about 1/4 to 1/2 space there and its always wet and so are my floors! Should I try to dry it out and silicone the bottom of tank to the rim of the stand! I am baffled!

Dinos are easily fixable. Tank leak not as much

A tank leak means I would have to spend a lot of money on a new tank; I'm going with Dinos on this one.

Having been through both, Dinos.....Bigtime.
Takes longer to deal with, but it's A LOT less stressful. After 15 years I remember the leak vividly. Not so much the Dinos.

It’s seems odd to me that these would be the two options. They’re not even close to being equally bad.
Obviously my choice is I’d rather have Dinos, which I have had in the past, although I’ve also had a tank leak before.

I was able to experience both of these options within the past year. I have to admit that the dinoflagellates are a nuisance, but they are not a complete financial burden. I am still in what feels like a recovery phase from my tank breaking.

you must never had a really bad outbreak or you only had ostreopsis dinos, the easiest to get rid of, with just a simple UV filter. But prorocentrum grows on rocks glass and sand, doesnt migrate to water column, and you can only beat them with silicate and nutrient dosing over a very long time table. Its a long drawn out battle that sucks.
