Any type of macro algae will be a great addition to any tank. It helps with keeping nitrates and phosphate down. For example, my fuge is so strong at the moment that im struggling to keep the water a little dirty so that my coral can live. But since it is fish only, have fun! make that tank clean!!!

The skimmer is usually in the 1st or 2nd chamber, depending on the design of the sump? I modded my Trigger systems sump for the Triton method (which I'm no longer using), so my 1st chamber is larger. My skimmer is in the middle section and the return in the last section. Also, you'll want the skimmer in the not so clean section to help remove detritus and aid in "cleaning" your water. I actually like having the fuge in the 1st chamber, the macro algae catches any uneaten food, which the pods and bristleworms feed on, win, win.

I would not put the skimmer in the chamber with the return pump. Way to easy to end up with microbubbles in the tank from the skimmer.
Not sure what you mean by blocked up, but in my sumps the skimmer is the first weapon I use for nutrient removal.

I think just about everybody has tried to make their chaeto spin around like that, but the truth is it's not that easy long term.
The chaeto tends to get stuck in the corner, or just grows and stops spinning.
When the idea came out to create extra flow in the refugium area I added a small powerhead to create that flow.
When I realized the chaeto usually stops spinning I left the powerhead in and noticed I did get more growth.
So now it's part of my refugiums.

Will put few pics up of tank and sump when I get it next week" its a cleair Adaman " think they are from japan/hong kong " and not really looked at sump much but chap said almost same as red sea reefer

Yes, the H380 is a chaeto, macro algae growing machine. It's a bit oversized for my fuge, but it works. If the H160 came out earlier, I would've opted for it, but I don't regret spending the money on this light. It's sole design is to grow algae/plants and it's second to none.

from uk so don't think so many into reef/marine keeping than US but yes mr crabby is a top guy and good help
