So my daughter had a surgery in Florida. She will be down there 4 months for a procedure, and I hve been gone 3 weeks. My wife is still there and we will trade out half way through. Anyway I took my 5 corals to the LFS who is pretty kind to me, traded in for store credit, and entrusted the care to my father for the 3 weeks that we would both be gone. He followed my instructions exactly and did a great job, including a big water change halfway through. But he didnt bother to run the magnetic glass cleaner as I do daily... so if anyone was wondering what 3 weeks of no glass cleaning looks like... here it is! On a related note... my shrimp literally has algae and barnacles growing on it... or what I always assumed were barnacles: the little white nubs that grow on unattended areas in the sump usually. Should I be worried? He obviously hasn't molted in 3 weeks...

Wow! Must have been so satisfying to wipe that off! I would do a couple massive water changes.

I really can't see the shrimp but, is he acting normally? Eating? That could be a problem.

It’s shocking how quickly algae builds up when left to its own devices. Nothing that a good clean and a syphon won’t cure though.

I hope everything works out okay for your daughter.
