Ok so let me say they have stepped up on the new controllers

1. They have built in power controls
A. Full power
B. half power
C. 1/4 power

These are built into the controller. Quiet is a understatement I can't hear the one I placed In my 40 tub at all. Got them less then 48 hours after I ordered them. I can only imagine what 2 will do on my 93 cube I'm setting up

I think they are 100% - 75% - 50% not 100% - 50% - 25%. And the speed control only works in the W1 mode, not W2, W3 or the Else modes. But yes, it should be a useful improvement.

I tried a WP-40 and WP-25, both with the new controllers, in my 100G and the 40 was too much for my 5-6" Southdown DSB no matter what setting I used.
I have two WP-25s in there now on the W1-S2 settings or 75% speed and they seem to be doing fantastic. I'm still playing with the direction and have some sand movement but nothing like the WP-40 was doing.

Amazingly powerful pumps with a ton of adjustability, pretty efficient electrically and very economical.

you can also buy a dimmer off ebay that plugs directly into the controller to raise or lower the rpms. if i remember, they are like $6.00.

With the new controller you do not need the additional power supply, the speed control if built in.

But the new speed control(s1,s2,s3) only work in w1 mode and have no effect on any of the others put together by a string of videos off another thread. So it would make sense to get say the 12v-24v regulator in case you just needed to powerdown the entire pump for all settings. I ordered a 40 last night for my 90g and was worried I was going to big so added the volt regulator onto the order for an extra $10 so I hope it all works out. I wanted a 25 but I didn't want to short change myself just in case(like a lot of flow and the wider the better) plus I've noticed with other pumps overtime the power lessens so I figured start big in that case as to never max out with the 25.

From experience you will have to dial it down, Ive seen a 40 blow water out of a 120.

Ya that's what I figured I was walking into. Im sure I will be running it at 12-15v. Im more of a random flow than a wave guy though so I imagine I will be running else mode a lot. What a sweet upgrade though. It will be replacing the 6 PH's I am currently running in the 90g at the moment.
