Can someone explain how it works. Is it supposed to turn the pump off when lights are off. Does the sensor suppose to light up. Mine is 6 months old and I've never noticed it really doing anything.

From what I have read, you can pretty much throw that sensor away. It rarely works.

When your lights go off the sensor kicks on and has a continuous flow it doesn't light up but on your controller it will turn from green to orange

My sensors work fine. I have the controllers in the stand so I have a single fluorescent bulb on a cheap timer so that the sensor realizes when it is day time.

The sensor doesn't light up but like the person above said the color of the indicator light will be amber when the controller is in night mode.

My light sensor works fine. It has to be in a very dark spot. When it is on the green light which designates the mode is lit. When the sensor turns kicks on the green light goes off and the yellow light goes on. Depending on which mode and speed you have it on. When on else there are times it would be hard to tell since it cycles through modes. But if on else mode s1 you can see a difference.

Mine stays green and the flow doesn't change. I got an extra. I might play with it and are what happens

If you place your finger to cover the sensor it should go into night mode. I wonder if it is not sitting in the slot correctly or just faulty. They are very sensitive. If they are mounted so the light trigger is from what seems is normal reef lighting it will fry them. I had to mount mine outside of canopy on the glass where overflow is. The trigger light is what shows from the top of the overflow.

I think I found the problem.. I didnt even have the light sensor installed.. I just found it in the box. I installed it and covered it with my fingers and it works fine... Lets keep this just between us..lol

That may be it also.
