Wrasse and Others in QT

I have a melanurus wrasse, royal gramma, purple chromis, and black molly (never exposed to a parasite and acclimated by me) in my QT at the moment.

The wrasse is laying on his side, and was breathing heavy. I decided to do a FW dip to see if anything dropped off of him, and nothing did. I put him back in QT and hes on the bottom again, breathing not so heavy.

I don't have sand in there, but I do have PVC. Is this just his normal behavior since he does not have sand? Should I add sand?

The molly and other fish are doing fine.

I did a 25% water change just in case, but my badge reads nothing.

These have been in QT for about 8 days now.

In the QT I have 2 HOB's running, 2 with some poly filter, and another with some carbon. Also a sponge seeded with bacteria.

The white specks are just debris since hes laying on the bottom.

When I had Leopard Wrasse, it needed sand to feel comfortable.

I was thinking the same thing but I know very little about wrasses

Not sure if thats normal but the Melanarus should have sand. A tupperware container with a couple of inches will do.

Can you post a video of the fish's behavior? Sometimes videos are more helpful with a diagnosis than pictures.

Do you have enough sand in your display to do the job?

If so, you can scoop it out with a medium sized fishnet.

Does it have a fine to medium grain size, so that your wrasse can bury itself?

If it's large grained and or real coarse, then it might not be the right call.

It's either that or your display's sand that has bacteria.

Not an wrasse expert and hoping for the best.

Are you treating the fish with any meds? What kind of O2 supply are you using in your QT? Air Stones? Powerhead aimed at the surface?

Airstone and power head. No meds, the Molly is supposed to tell me. Trying something different

He always ate up until yesterday. LRS and blackworms.

He didn't make it through the night.
