Hello, i have a 90gal tank, and suffered velvet not too long ago, only 2 wrasses remaining they show no symptoms since day 1(only scratching, believe they where the ones who introduced it) but the question is how long can velvet live in the tank with those 2 wrasses showing no symptoms?

Not entirely sure, to be honest. I had a velvet outbreak last July and have been disease-free since then. Did I completely eradicate it? Hard to say, but my three wrasses all survived with no ill effects.

Thanks for the reply, ive been trying to catch them with a fish trap tankmatez but it has been impossible. Running out of ideas on how to get them out, without affecting corals

Oh,forgot to ask, have you added any new fish since, and if you have how long after the outbreak did you add them?

15 days is typical lifespan before they are inactive due to no host. However, in a tank that had velvet, you want to go fishless also known as FALLOW for a period of 6-8 weeks

I bought medic but once i added it to the sump all my zoas closed up, got scared did a rapid 50% water change and all good

I understand it last 15 days w/o a host but in this case i still got 2 wrasses that have proven to be immortal, and hard to catch, so was considering or wandering how long would have to wait to add new fish

I would recommend 4-6 weeks to assure all clear

Thanks will do, by the way ive been running uv as well 24/7 on 2 diff speed cycles 76 gph during night and 200 gph during day. Dont know if that helps
It should although best on ich parasite

Did you experienced any issues with medic? All my corals closed up on first dose so i freaked out and did a water change? Anything like that?
