I have a 125 that I want to do very wrasse centric. I need help compiling my list. I am qt'ing a Mccoskers right now and will put in within the next two weeks. Really as soon as I get an established Melanarus out of there. It will be a reef tank currently with pair of clowns, longnose flame hawk, marine betta and will be adding in the future powder brown or tomini, midas blenny, and manadarin(s).. my question is with the Mccosker going in right now what would be a good mix of wrasses? I would like to get a Yellow coris, solorensis maybe a lubbocks. nothing set in stone. what would your opinions be on this?

I guess my question would be if it was your tank is; what would you put wrasse wise in a 125

That won't help you much since everyone has a different taste and budget. Someone may have C. claire on their list, but that doesn't apply to you as I'm sure you don't want to start with a $2,000 wrasse.

Just make a list of what you like and can afford then double check to make sure there aren't some baddies on the list.

So I actually have a 125 wrasse tank, I have a few other fish that are not wrasse, but wrasses:

Leopards:
M. Blue Star Leopard Wrasse (divided leopard)
F. Blue Star Leopard Wrasse (divided leopard)
2 Reg. Leopard
Black Leopard
Ornate Leopard
Potters (Leopard)

Fairy/Flashers:
M McCoskers Flasher
M Filamented Flasher
M Scotts Fairy (Cook Islands)
M Solar Fairy
M Lubbocks Fairy
M Exquisite Fairy (Maldives)

Haliochores (sp):
M Vroliks Wrasse
Yellow "Coris" (Canary) Wrasse

Other inhabitants:
Blonde Naso Tang
Black Ocellaris Clown
Ocellaris Clown
Target Mandarin Goby
3 Firefish

I plan to ditch the firefish as soon as I can catch them, but everyone gets along great. The leopards hang out together in groups (I wouldn't call it schooling, but they're always in the same area of the tank together).

It's a really cool tank. I have a tang tank, an angel tank, and a wrasse tank. Both of the other two have turned in to pseudo wrasse tanks also, I have radiant wrasse, another vroliks, two established cleaner wrasse, red coris wrasse, australian harlequin tusk, banana wrasse, and lime green wrasse.

Not on my list, but rather in my QT. ;)

We really don't like you Hunter! Pics are a must when possible!

3ford, how are you successful with a mandarin with all those pod eaters? I have just two (H. Chrysotaenia and H. Chrysus) and I have almost no visible pods....well if they show themselves during the day they become invisible!

Get the mandarin eating healthy, prepared foods.

Honestly they breed in my fuge and then they get anialated in the dt haha.

I've had my mandarin for a few months and wondered how she would fare but I'm pretty sure I've seen her also eating live blackworms and even Cyclopeez and brine in my frozen mix.

I feed my wrasses so often I can't imagine them hunting pods too aggressively but I will say that this tank is NOT a place you want to be if you're a pod.

My blue star female did not eat anything I gave her for nearly a month. She had to be living on pods (although she was thin). Now she's recovering and eats frozen offerings and blackworms.

Honestly, I've found with all the harder to keep wrasses using PE Mysis and soaking it in Selcon will almost ensure 100% success, I haven't lost a wrasse yet but I also do strenuous gravity acclimation.

I too feed this and soak all frozen foods in selcon and garlic guard. No success. She's the only one that's given me trouble out of the plethora of difficult wrasses I keep and have kept

Have you tried Nutrimar Ova, Capelin Roe, Bloodworms, or Cyclops?
