I am wanting to get a little bit of advice with fish stocking ,, mostly Wrasses ,, into my fairly new tank ,, this post may get a bit long ,, but I want to give ya'll the most info I can about the tank and what I have going on with it. ,, maybe or maybe not this info will help you with any advice you want to share with me.

I took down my old tank ,, set up a cube tank to house corals & fish ,, pretty much the smaller fish ,, the couple of Tangs I had were to big for the cube ,,I gave those to a friend ,, new tank arrived ,, set up ,, the new tank has been set up for around 4 months or so, most likely longer ,, I am bad with times ,, corals and fish have been moved into the new tank ,,,, all the corals are doing good ,, mostly,, Chalices are growing ,, zoas look really good, are they growing, not really sure ,, SPS corals,, some are holding their own ,, have lost others ,, I am going to just forget about adding more SPS corals till the tank gets a bit more age on it ,,, I think the tank is close to being able to stock more SPS corals into the tank though.

The new tank is a rimless tank made by Mircales Aquariums 60x30x20 it has a Reef Savvy external overflow box on it. I have a lot ,, read that part again lol ,,, of Bio Sphears in my over sized sump tank made be Advanced Acrylics ,, the new tank was started up with a pretty good amount of cured Bio Sphears,, ones I had in my old system ,, new ones that I had curing in several friends systems while we were waiting on the new tank ,, the tank is going to be mostly a SPS and zoa tank with Favias lower in the tank ,, I have another tank ordered to house Chalices and acans ,, The reason for the large amount of Bio Sphears ,, I have very little Live Rock in the display ,, I have a Scape made by Aqua Rocks in my display tank ,, this is a large scape with a lot of branches and arms on it ,, I also have a sand bed in the tank ,, deep enough for Wrasses to sleep in.

I have been holding off buying fish for the new tank ,, the tank does't have a top over it ,, I have one ordered from Artfully Acrylic ,, after several long months ,, it shipped yesterday ,, I should have it Wednesday ,, hoping it fits :) this is why I am making this post ,, with this top ,, I can now start buying fish ,, The fish I have currently in the display tank one Marine Beta ,, two Black Ice Clowns ,, one Midas Blenny ,, two small Anthias and I will spell this wrong :( Malinarius Wrasse ,, all of the fish except for the Anthais were from my old tank,,, I was thinking of buying most of my fish from Fishy Business Aquatics ,, they are a R2R vendor ,, the two Anthias I added to the new tank were bought from them ,, this order was placed to kinda give them a trail run ,, they passed :) they seem to have a large variety of fish to choose from.

So ,, what do I want and don't want ,, what I don't want is a over stock tank ,, but I don't want a under stocked tank either :) have some friends that have low Nitrates issues in their SPS tanks ,, they are always adding more fish ,, trying to feed fish and corals more to help raise their Nitrate numbers in their tank ,,

Fish that I want ,,

First off I want to add a Tang ,, I was thinking a purple tang ,, never have actually seen one ,, can't go wrong with a colorful purple fish in the tank ,, friends tell me to add two Tangs ,, I am not against this ,, Tangs are big fish though ,, if I keep it to one ,, I can add more Wrasses lol I will see what advice I get here before I make a decision on two Tangs.

Wrasses ,, I would love some advice on the amount of Wrasses I should get and the stocking order that I should buy them and maybe some thoughts on the intervals in between buying them. I guess I am wanting what everyone wants ,, some Flasher Wrasses ,, a Leopard wrasse or two and some of the nicer Fairy Wrasses ,, Other than the Tang or Two ,, all the fish I want to add to the tank will be Wrasses ,, maybe one or two more Anthais ,, I had bought 4 from Fishy Business ,, I am down to two ,, I might would like to add a third one at least ,,

That's about all I have ,, I just figured I would ask for some advice instead of just putting stuff in my cart and hit the buy button ,,

I will make you feel better :) I am also a Phillies Fan :) Back in the mid 70s when I was in the Navy ,, yes I am old lol ,, the ship I was on was in the dry dock for two years in Philly ,, that base was right next to to where the Phillys played at ,, we could show our military ID and get into all the baseball games and football games for 50 cents ,, I spent two summers going to every baseball home game ,, only went to a few football games ,, it was just way to cold up there for me lol

My tank is in the 140g range most likely a bit less ,, that Reef Savvy overflow box causes you to lose a a inch or so of TWV for the tank ,, doesn't seem like much ,, but losing a inch of water across a 5' tank adds up ,,

If you are going to add two tangs...add them both at the same time. An established purple tang in a tank that size will make it very difficult to add a second tang.

As far as wrasses you could easily add 6-10 in a tank that size. Just do some looking and see what appeals to your eye and post your planned stocking list on the fairy wrasse thread. You could have 2 or 3 flashers (almost any combination would work except for 8 line flashers...if you want one of them add it last among the flashers). Leopards...generally only one male but multiple females will usually work and different species of females will work.

Use this as as reference for picking fairy wrasses. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/c...feriority-need-not-apply-1st-revision.322326/ It will save you a lot of grief.

Good luck and welcome to the wrasse addiction!
